About Melissa Daoud
I am a board-certified, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in working with teenagers and young adults. I hold a Master’s degree in Counseling from Santa Clara University and am licensed to practice therapy in California. My clinical work has always focused on supporting children, teens, and families as they navigate emotional, relational, and developmental challenges.
My approach to therapy is individualized and collaborative, with an emphasis on understanding the systems and environments that shape each client’s experience. I work with individuals, couples, and families, and collaborate with schools when appropriate. I support clients in exploring identity, strengthening relationships, and managing stress related to school, work, and life transitions.
I prioritize building a genuine therapeutic relationship, blending warmth, authenticity, and humor with evidence-based practices. My work is informed by Relational Developmental Systems Theory and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to promote emotional regulation and personal growth. When working with couples, I use the Gottman Method and Emotion-Focused Therapy to enhance connection and resolve conflict. With families, I draw from Structural Family Therapy and Attachment-Based Family Therapy to identify unhelpful patterns and support repair.
As a Muslim-American woman with a bicultural background, I value cultural sensitivity and understand how cultural identity impacts mental health and relationships. My experience in school-based psychotherapy programs and my role as a parent of three enrich my clinical perspective and deepen my commitment to compassionate, effective care.
Her Philosophy
Healing is fostered through authentic connection, compassion, cultural awareness, and evidence-based therapeutic practices that support growth, resilience, and meaningful change.
